The First Book Prize 2019, held by Hong Kong Academy of the Humanities, is to give recognition and encouragement to early career achievement among scholars of the humanities working in Hong Kong. The Prize called for submission from all researchers at a Hong Kong institution of higher education with their first English scholarly monograph of humanities. The academy has invited scholars with specific expertise in the field of the entry to review the submissions and will institute an annual prize for the best-submitted manuscript by a humanities scholar. The awardee of the year will be awarded a contract with Springer for the book to be published in The Humanities in Asia (THIA) series and a Junior Fellowship at the Academy for a five year term.
